New Beginnings

I chose this title because this is all about new beginnings. This new blog, making the first blog post, starting a new career, entering a new career field, figuring out finances, figuring out personal stance and values on different issues. You name it. This is a salute to new beginnings. May we embrace them, may we live them.

It has been roughly a month of me starting a new job and I am still excited about it. I am enthusiastic about the learning opportunities it provides me and it is my fervent prayer for myself that procrastination or laziness does not make me abuse this chance. Amen to that!

Anyway, here are a few things I have come to learn and realise in this new phase that I would like to share in this first post.

What shows how one of a kind you are, is how disciplined you are, as a person when all the titles and labels are off.

Say yes to things.
There is so much we miss out on, so many opportunities we do not take because no is easier to say. It is so much easier to say you do not feel qualified, you do not have the time, you are scared than to say yes to stuff. Which takes me to my next point.

Do it afraid
There is so much we could discover about ourselves, so many areas we could excel in, so many areas we could improve on if only we would do things afraid. Feel that immobilising fear and that voice raising all the doubts but yet still doing it afraid.

Self-discipline cannot be overemphasized
All the chances we take and the opportunities we seize will be useless if we do not know how to discipline ourselves to be the best versions of ourselves. It is so easy and comfortable to be mediocre and average, but what shows how one of a kind you are, is how disciplined you are. Not with your work, or studies or other external things, but with yourself as a person. With who you are when all the titles and labels are off.

Find happiness within never without
You could have your dream job, living what you think is your best life but you will never be content with it if you cannot find happiness within. I was so convinced starting a new job was going to be a game-changer for me, that every area of my life would just improve and get better because I have a job I’m excited about, right? Wrong.
You need to figure out how to be happy with who you are…(yep you guessed right) when all the titles and labels are off.

You need to figure out how to be happy with who you are when all the titles and labels are off.

Take full advantages of opportunities
They say opportunity knocks but once. I think it can be more than once, but it definitely will not be forever. You have to be positioned to take advantage of opportunities when they come and to take FULL advantage of them. Enough said on that.

I am still figuring things out and doing a whole lot of self-reflection and introspection. However, as thoughts and ideas come to mind I will share them, and maybe we can grow together.

With love and kind thoughts,

Uduak.
